If you’re reading this, we’ve asked you to have a look, perhaps you received a letter from us, or perhaps you were tricked by seeing a link on Facebook or something. Whatever the cause, we’re glad you came.
In September 2011, Allie and I are moving to Romania for a year.
We have been thinking and praying about this for a few months now. We have been accepted to the program, and are now beginning the process of “getting our house in order”.
Romania is a country that is still recovering from the fall of communism. The country as a whole is becoming healthier, and their economy is growing in the cities. However, poverty is rampant in the rural sections. People cannot afford to buy bread, there are children living and working on the streets, people have no hope for the winter because of houses with no windows owned by people without the strength to cut wood to burn for heat. We want to be a part of meeting the needs of these people. Yet, we do not want to stop with meeting simply physical needs. We believe that all people, both Romania and American, African and Iranian-all people, have a spiritual need for Jesus. We believe that as Christians we have been commanded to make disciples; to meet these spiritual needs by introducing people to Christ, and we believe that God has told us to do that in Romania.
We are going to assist an organization called Networks. You can have a look at their website here:

Allie and I are very excited about what is going to happen. We know that we will never be the same when we return. We are praying that our marriage will be strengthened in a unique way. We are praying that religion is stripped from our hearts. We are praying that we are able to connect with the heart of Christ: the poor and the broken. We are praying that we return free from American ideals of success and wealth. It is going to be a hard task. Romania has cold winters and hot summers. We will be doing labor. The intention of this blog is to share our story about what we are doing and why. We want to keep you updated as the story unfolds so that we can all celebrate what happens.
Its time to pop the question. Will you help us?
Allie and I need between $12,000 and $15,000 to make this thing happen. This money is to cover flights and living expenses as we are responsible for paying our own way. This seems like a lot of money to me, but I know that there are many people who could write a check for 3x this and never miss it. The world is full of causes and people who want your money. All we ask is that you pray about it, and see if you feel like you want to partner with us. We believe that we have been called to this, and that it will get paid for. There is a “Donate” button to the right of the page if you feel so inclined.
We also want to talk with you about it. We welcome all your questions. We want your support whether it is financial or not.
Call us. Email us. Stop by the house.
